In Year 3 we have been practising our accompaniments for our own versions of Antonin Dvorak’s ‘Largo.’ In our musical groups we began to layer the accompaniment underneath the melody.
We have made use of rhythm, ostinato (repetition), texture (layering), and now we are starting to think about dynamics (volume).
We’ve been asking the questions:
Should the melody be louder or softer than the accompaniment? What dynamics should we use to show a calm, peaceful mood?
What do you think?
