In year 6 we have embarked on breaking down the pop song ‘Shake it Off,’ by Taylor Swift. We are going to master the rhythm, melody, accompaniment and lyrics of the chorus. Then we are going to use our mastery to compose our own versions of the chorus.
Today was day one, and we focussed on learning the rhythm. We used the rhythmic syllables, ‘ti’ and ‘ta’ (ti= quaver, ta= crochet) to write the rhythm:
Then, we performed the rhythm using rhythmic language:
Lastly, we performed the rhythm using percussion and some pitched instruments:
