This week, children in year 1 have been learning about the story of the Nutcracker as they are working on a pilot program for the Royal Opera House called Create and Dance. The children will be creating a 5 minute dance routine that they will show at Christmas time to the parents.
Once the children warmed up, they went into the hall and transformed into nutcracker soldiers and mice. The children learned about how to go up high on their toes, and go down low. We looked at how a mouse would move versus how a soldier would march and move around the space.
