Yesterday, children in year 6 were visited by artist Sarah from Courtauld Institute of Art. It is among the most prestigious institutions in the world known for its Art history and Conversation of Art departments.
The children were give a series of tasks. The first one was to look at various postcards of images from the Courtauld collection and then they had to put them in chronological order. This was a tough task as the children were not able to see the dates they were made. They had to use their past knowledge of art history and look at the style of the work in order to put them in order.
Next, the children were asked if they collected anything at home, this ranged from DVDS, t shirts, shoes, and sports memorabilia. They were give a piece of card and had to draw only one item that represented their collection. Sarah then took all the images and together with the children, they were collected into different collections. Once each collection was decided the children who had their work in that collection were told they had to exhibit their work. The children all persevered and showed a range of ways of exhibiting the work.
