This past week in Year 4 we have been introducing invasion games and the art of defending. With children at this age participating in more and more school competitions and sports clubs outside of school, we find it essential for them to understand the rules of invasion games such as; Netball, Basketball, Football etc. and breaking down game-play aspects.
We have been teaching the children the importance of defending, why and how its needs to be done as a team. They have been communicating about responsibility and concentration during a game.
There has been a real focus on different stages of defending. What to do when the person we’re marking; is looking to receive the ball, has received the ball, and after they have made a pass. After some practice and discussions this is what they came up with!
