This year marks our third anniversary of our very special big art event we hold at Monteagle. As ever, the school was buzzing with excitement as visitors from Eastbury Community School and the University of Arts London Chelsea campus came to work with our year 1 and 2 children on two very special projects.
The year 2 children created self portraits using paint. Once they had finished, each piece was photographed and projected onto the wall. The children then stepped in front of their projected artwork. The artists then took pictures of the children with their hands over their faces so that their artwork showed on their faces.
The year 1 children focused on the eyes of different portraits. They were given a variety of images to look through that were cut to only show the eyes. The children worked with the cultural ambassadors from Eastbury Community School to first draw the eyes and then they used coloured pencils to complete their work.
The rest of the school made their way to the KS1 Hall in groups to see that their teachers had been transformed into witches and wizards from the world of Harry Potter! The students got an opportunity to draw their teachers in the scenes and then went back to class to complete their work. They all showed great creativity and should all be proud of their achievements.
