Year 4 had a great day discovering what life was like at the Roman town of Verulamium. We explored the different galleries at the museum and amongst other things learnt how to build an arch just like the Romans did.
Whilst at the museum, we had a really interesting workshop, where we got to touch various Roman artifacts and compared them to what we use today. We were disgusted to find out what the Romans used for toilet paper!
A short walk away was the Hypocaust, an underfloor heating system used by the Romans. Inside this building the floor was covered by an amazing mosaic.
It was a really enjoyable day where we learnt lots about Roman life.
