Monteagle Community,
It’s been a few weeks since our last update, so we are excited to share with you the progress we have made on a special project.
Last term, the Student Forum came together and were alarmed by the devastating reports about Climate Change in the media. As a group, we decided enough was enough, and we needed to take immediate action. We wrote a letter to Ms. Rider asking for assembly slots and a Climate Change awareness day. Within a few days we had our response: Ms. Rider positively supported all of our suggestions.
Eager to act, we presented at Achievement Assembly sharing the devastating state of our planet. Due to its success, Ms. Rider asked us to host the Monday assembly to introduce the theme for the upcoming assemblies: stop climate change. A daunting task, but we we were up for the challenge. During our meetings, we carefully planned our approach which was to inspire children to act. Just because we are young, does not limit the positive difference we can have in the world.
On Monday, we delivered three inspirational assemblies to the whole school. The response was wonderful, with all children on board with our motto: be the change you wish to see in the world.
To reflect on our successes, and think to the future, we came together and had a scrumptious lunch in Ms.Riders office (Yes! Ms.Riders office). We finished our lunch with a toast to our future endeavours as representatives. We cannot wait for the term ahead, and to be the change we wish to see in the world.
Until next time Monteagle,
The Student Forum
