Day: 2

Weather: Sunny

Number of tired children having to be woken up: 4

After a good night’s sleep, we all woke up refreshed raring to go for a full day of activities.  We enjoyed a breakfast of cereal and toast before splitting into our activities groups.

One group got kitted up and headed off into Wales to the Brecon Beacons where they walked through an old unused railway tunnel into darkness.  Working as a team, the children managed to find their way out of the tunnel in complete darkness.  They then headed to the gorges where they waded, fell and swam in the rapids and waterfalls.

The other two groups stayed onsite and enjoy bush craft, making shelters and cooking popcorn on fires that the children built and lit.  Then they scaled up new heights as they spent time in the climbing wall.  Tomorrow the children will circulate and participate in different activities, with some heading off up a mountain walk.

We enjoyed a lovely homemade chicken pie for dinner.  Mrs Lowe was spoilt with a candle light dinner in celebration of 36 years of marriage.  Unfortunately, Mr Lowe was in Dagenham so Mrs Lowe had to share her romantic meal with Mr A, Miss Darcy and Mr Woollcott.
