This week in reception, we have been reading the story ‘The three little pigs’. Children enjoyed reading the story and shared their own amazing ideas. During child initiated play, children explored different activities around the story.
Areas that were covered:
Communication and and Language- Speaking
Builds up vocabulary that reflects the breadth of their experiences.
Extends vocabulary, especially by grouping and naming, exploring the meaning and sounds of new words.
Uses language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations.
Expressive arts and design
Plays co-operatively as part of a group to develop and act out a narrative.
Reading
Describes main story settings, events and principal characters.
Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experiences of books.
Exploring and using materials
Selects appropriate resources and adapts work where necessary.
Physical development
Children handled equipment and tools effectively including pencils for writing.
Activities such as gluing / cutting out pictures also improves fine motor skills.
