This week in Reception, we have been learning a new story called ‘The Way Back Home’ by Oliver Jeffers. In the story a boy finds a plane in the cupboard and goes on an adventure up into the sky. Suddenly the plane’s engine splutters and he lands on the moon. Not only have children been planning and writing a postcard from the Martian to the boy, but to introduce this story, the children learned the model text with actions and we created paper airplanes which we enjoyed playing with outside.
