Year 6 has had a fantastic start to the year and the children have settled wonderfully into their new classrooms. We were very excited to start our new topic of learning for this term – World War Two.
It was fascinating to find out that children from Monteagle were evacuated before Britain declared war in 1939. We were fortunate enough to have access to the Headteacher’s log book from that time. Like true historians we searched carefully through the records to find facts about life during the war at that time. Did you know that almost 600 children were evacuated to Somerset during this time? We can’t wait to continue our learning.
