Earlier today, Year Six was lucky enough to take part in a creative dance workshop hosted by a West End performer. The workshop was in preparation for World Book Week, which is fast approaching.
The children were asked to create a dance and a show based on the classic children’s book Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. In this beloved story, Max sails away from home and finds himself in an island inhabited by strange, wild creatures. He quickly becomes their king, and together they explore the island and have wild and wonderful adventures. The children were split into small groups, each of which was responsible for creating a different part of the story. They worked together to come up with their own unique movements and choreography. The children even got into character, roaring and jumping around and fully embracing the story of Where The Wild Things Are.
The coordinator was truly impressed with the children’s creativity and ability to get into role. With just a few days left until World Book Week, they were well on their way to putting together an incredible poetry performance.
