It has been another busy and creating week this week in art and DT.
Year 2 learned about natural and man made patterns, going on a pattern hunt, then using a variety of materials of their own choosing attempted to create interesting and unique printed patterns. Some chose linear repeated patterns, whereas some chose to be very experimental and created some fascinating results.
Year 5 finished their moving cam toys by cutting, joining, sticking, evaluating, adjusting, re-evaluating, re-adjusting and then adjusting some more to finally complete their moving cam toy topic, where they learned about mechanisms that can create movements as well as practiced wood cutting and joining.
Year 6 continued their topic into still life, having learned about composition, contrast, shape and now tone. With this, they children experienced a new medium of graphite sticks and explored a new process of working negatively in their art; they began with a dark surface, then used a rubber to draw and increase the brightness. With multiple layers, the children were able to create some interesting results.
