The children in Year 2 have been very busy this week and have enjoyed completing a wide range of activities. The highlight of the week was making a sandwich.
Before they could do this the children had to learn about instructions. They looked at a range of different instructions and discovered that they all have similar features. These include the use of imperative verbs (bossy verbs), numbers to sequence the instructions, a list of ingredients or equipment needed and the steps written in order. The children enjoyed picking out the imperative verbs in the different instructions they were looking at.
To enhance their learning of this form of writing the childrenĀ made a sandwich in class on Thursday morning. They then went on to write a set of instructions on how to make a sandwich.
