This week, we had 2 classes go swimming for the first time this year. A lot of preparation and planning went into the organisation, as there were now going to be up to 17 children in the pool at one given time!
First of all, we needed to make sure all the children got onto the bus safely; the children were so well behaved and listened to the teachers really well. They were super excited when they were sitting on the bus as they knew what awaited them next!
When we got to the swimming pool, they waited patiently for another school to finish getting changed. They stood so nicely whilst waiting and were very patient. When we got the children into the pool, they were changed super quick as they were now even more excited than before! So many of the children were able to dress themselves which was really good to see. Others needed some support or prompting to get ready, but were still quick to do so. Then came the pool…!
To the staff’s amazement, all the children went straight into the pool with no concerns whatsoever! Some ran in, other just walked straight in without hesitation. We are so proud of all the new children that went as it was something new with school, but they really did amazingly.
The other children, who had been swimming before half term, were moved up into the bigger pool if they were ready to do so. We had around 7 children making this step up, with one child moving up to the deepest end to swim with an instructor at 2 metres!
All the children really loved the pool; chasing each other around, pulling each other around using the floats, and splashing one another, and the teachers!
The children in the big pool even had a chance to jump in! Take a look at the pictures and videos below to see the children in action. We cannot wait to take them again on Monday!
