This week the children in Year 2 have had a fun week of learning. On Friday, children excitedly entered our classrooms wearing their Christmas jumper. They were looking very colourful indeed!
In Science, the children have been good explorers during their outdoor investigation. Children have been learning about a range of micro-habitats and different mini-beasts that live in them. We investigated micro-habitats in our school playground and children recorded their findings on a tick list table and a tally chart. Some children also drew labelled diagrams of the micro-habitats that they spotted.
In Computing, children have been exploring Google Chrome Music Lab. For example, classes have been using the Music Lab or musical instruments to create a pattern. Children have learnt about how the tempo can be changed to create a faster or slower pace.
In Mathematics, children have been working hard to practise counting on and counting back in tens from any given number within 100. Children started off the week by adding 10 and subtracting 10 from a two-digit number. They then moved onto adding tens amounts and subtracting tens amounts from a two-digit number. For example, 43 + 30 = or 86 – 20 =.
As part of our English learning journey, the children in Year 2 have been writing a story based on the fiction book, The Wonder by Faye Hanson. It has allowed Year 2 children the opportunity to use their imaginations.
