Yesterday, Year 3 took part in an excellent workshop all about the Stone Age. They learnt that the Stone Age is a prehistoric period when stone tools and weapons were used. It’s split into three main periods: the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age), Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age), and Neolithic (New Stone Age).
They also learnt that the Stone Age in the UK began around 2.6 million years ago and lasted until around 2,000 BCE and how there was a major shift across the different Stone Age periods from hunting and gathering to farming and creating settlements, as well as using more sophisticated tools.
Some of the activities they took part in included making a fire, exploring artefacts such a flint used to make tools, plotting the best way to catch a wooly mammoth, learning how stone was transported many miles and they even built their very own version of Stonehenge! We hope you enjoyed looking at the photos above and videos below!
