Our school has been buzzing with excitement as we dive into Euro 2024 celebrations! Last Friday was an exciting one where each class got to pick a team for the Euros from a bowl during a special assembly. The suspense was intense, and the cheers were even louder as the children discovered which country they’d be representing.

Earlier in the day the festival commenced with our Year 5 and Year 6 football tournament. The playground was a scene straight out of Germany. Children from all over the school gathered to watch, and the energy was through the roof. Germany and Scotland kicked off and everyone was on the edge of their seats. The football skills on display were nothing short of spectacular, and it’s safe to say we have some future football stars in our midst.

In addition to the football frenzy, our children have been channeling their inner choristers, learning and singing some classic England songs. If you’ve heard spirited renditions of “Three Lions” echoing around, that’s us getting into the Euro 2024 spirit!

Now, for the cherry on top—International Day is coming up on July 12th, and we couldn’t be more excited! Each class has been assigned a different country participating in Euro 2024, and they’re diving deep into learning about their nation’s unique culture, traditions, and history. We’ve got cuisine corners where you can sample delicious traditional dishes, art projects that bring national crafts to life, geography displays, and even music and dance performances. Our school is transforming into a vibrant showcase of European diversity.

On International Day, we’re rolling out the red carpet for all parents to come and see what the children have been up to. It’s going to be like a grand tour of Europe without needing a passport! You can expect to taste yummy foods, watch some fantastic performances, and explore creative displays that our children have worked so hard on.

So, mark your calendars for July 12th. We can’t wait to see you there and share all the amazing things our children have learned about the countries of Euro 2024. It’s going to be a day full of fun, learning, and maybe even a few surprises!
