This week in Year 1, we began our first geography unit, titled ‘What is it like here?’ Our focus has been on exploring our place in the world and examining the unique features of our school environment. A highlight of our learning involved understanding the concept of an aerial view, which serves as a foundation for comprehending maps. We thoroughly enjoyed engaging with various classroom resources to create our own ‘messy maps’ of our classroom layout. We imaginatively recreated what an aerial view of our space would look like, thereby enhancing our mapping skills and spatial awareness.
