This term, Year 3 has been diving deep into their writing, drawing inspiration from the exciting book Little Red. The children have already written fantastic recipes for ginger beer, and now they’re taking their learning to the next level by practicing how to write arguments!

The big question we’ve been debating: should Little Red give ginger beer to the wolf? To prepare for our writing, we held a lively debate in class, where everyone got involved and shared their opinions. This helped the children think carefully about arguments both for and against, using fronted adverbials like “on one hand” and “on the other hand” to structure their ideas.

We’ve had so much fun debating and building our arguments, and now we’re eager to bring it all together in our balanced argument writing next week. Stay tuned for more brilliant writing from Year 3!
