It’s been an exciting few weeks in Year 5 as we’ve been immersing ourselves in the fascinating world of the Tudors! From researching the lives they led to uncovering facts about famous figures like King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, the children have been busy historians!
We’ve kicked off our exploration by examining various Tudor artifacts. These objects from the past gave us a glimpse into how the Tudors lived, what they wore, and how their daily lives were different from ours. From lavish clothes worn by the nobles to the everyday tools used by commoners, it’s been fascinating to see how much has changed—and how some things remain the same!
One of the highlights has been reading letters written by King Henry VIII himself. The students were amazed to learn about the personal thoughts and political decisions of one of history’s most famous monarchs.
To make our learning even more interactive, we recently held a treasure hunt using QR codes! Scanning the codes led students to key facts about Queen Elizabeth I, her reign, and the significant events during her time as queen. Not only did this activity make history come alive in a modern way, but it also helped the students improve their research and problem-solving skills as they pieced together facts.
All of this learning is leading up to our exciting school trip on Tuesday! The trip will further enrich our understanding of Tudor history, and we can’t wait to see the real-life connections between the lessons we’ve been learning in the classroom and the historical sites we’ll visit.
We’re incredibly proud of how engaged and enthusiastic the students have been about learning more about this important period in British history. We hope they’ve been sharing some fun facts with you at home!
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing the students build on this knowledge during our upcoming trip.
