This week we’re having fun with nursery rhymes! If your child is attending in the morning or afternoon sessions, we’ll be learning the classic rhyme, “Hey, Diddle, Diddle!” Meanwhile, our full-time children have been singing “Down at the Station”. Next week, we’ll swap the songs so everyone can enjoy both.
To add even more excitement, we’re learning the Makaton signs that go along with each rhyme. The children have been picking these up beautifully, and we’re excited to share a video with you on Friday showing off their new signs!
In addition to singing and signing, we’re focusing on rhyming words and clapping out syllables in words, which is a wonderful way for children to develop early language and literacy skills.
Since it’s a special time of year, our activities this week are themed around fireworks as we talk about both Diwali and Bonfire Night. The children have been curious and eager to learn about these celebrations, and we’ve had lovely discussions about the colours, lights, and meaning behind each event.
