This week in Year 1, we commenced our exciting new topic on toys as part of our history curriculum. The children had the opportunity to explore a variety of contemporary toys, describing their functions and how we interact with them. A particularly engaging discussion followed as we examined toys from the past, where the children were intrigued to learn how we identified them as old, often expressing surprise at the age of certain items. We created a timeline, arranging toys from the oldest to the most modern, which sparked delightful debate. We look forward to next week’s activities, during which we will begin preparing for our own toy museum displays.
