On Monday, year 6 attended a performance of the ‘Outsider’ play performed by the Arc Educational Theatre Company. The ‘Outsider’ play is a dynamic and powerful engagement resource originally developed in 2018 for the Home Office ‘Building a Stronger Britain Together’ programme.

Arc’s performance programme aims to create more resilient communities and stand up to extremism in all its forms. Through live theatre, creative workshop activities and discussion which aim to promote British Values, young people learn to celebrate unity in diversity, while sensitively exploring and challenging a range of extremist narratives.

The ‘Outsider’ play is set in WW2 which ties in with our current topics in history and English lessons. This cross calicular learning supports children with their level of comprehension and ability to use critical thinking skills. The Arc Theatre Company has visited us for several years and we always look forward to their workshops as they provide amazing learning experiences that are accessible and vital.
