Our Year 6 students have embarked on an exciting adventure as they begin reading Shackleton’s Journey. To bring the story to life, they used role play to step into Shackleton’s shoes to imagine how he might have persuaded sponsors to fund his daring expedition to Antarctica.
Using an atlas, students also discovered the location of Antarctica and its significance in the story, sparking their curiosity about this remote and icy continent. This immersive start has set the stage for a captivating exploration of resilience, leadership, and survival.
The children are now delving into the histories of several of the most notable crew members as they begin to write personal statements of application to join the expedition.
