This week Reception children have been reading the book,’ Whatever Next’, written by Jill Murphy. This book is about a baby bear who wishes to travel to the moon. So, the baby bear pretends to go to the moon in his rocket (a cardboard box), wearing a space-helmet (a colander) and space boots (wellies). All the children enjoyed going through the story book which is full of colourful illustrations.
After reading the story, all the children designed their own rockets. They also practised writing tricky words and short phrases about space and their favourite transport and did a variety of creative activities. Many children while designing their rockets and during group discussions, discussed all that they would like to carry along during their visit to the space! All the children worked hard and had loads of fun.
