This week, Year 5 embarked on an exciting journey into the cosmos as we prepare to began our science unit on space.

The highlight was a visit from WonderDome, a mobile planetarium that brought the universe right into our school hall. The WonderDome team set up their incredible inflatable planetarium, creating a dark, immersive environment where we could gaze at the stars as if we were standing in space.

As we stepped inside, the excitement was clear—the dome surrounded us with stunning projections of galaxies, planets, and constellations, making us feel as though we were traveling through the universe! The interactive show took us on a journey through the solar system, where we explored each planet in detail, learning about their size, temperature, and unique features. We saw Mars’ dusty red surface, Jupiter’s swirling storms, and Saturn’s magnificent rings up close.

The presenter amazed us with fascinating facts about distant exoplanets, black holes, and the history of space exploration, tailoring the session to our curriculum to make it both educational and captivating.
