This week, our Year 5 children took part in Mental Health Week, engaging in a variety of activities to support their well-being. Throughout the week, we focused on simple but meaningful ways to help children build positive mental health habits.

Each day, the children participated in activities designed to encourage mindfulness, relaxation, and kindness. Some of the highlights included:

Yoga Poses – The children learned and practised different yoga poses to help them feel calm and focused.
Quiet Reading Time – Taking a moment to sit quietly with a good book allowed the children to relax and enjoy some peaceful time away from distractions.
Mindful Colouring – Creative activities like mindful colouring gave the children an opportunity to express themselves while improving focus and patience.
Random Acts of Kindness – We encouraged the children to carry out small acts of kindness, such as writing positive notes to friends or helping someone in need, reinforcing the power of kindness in supporting both their own well-being and that of others.
Mental Health Week was a fantastic opportunity for the children to reflect on the importance of taking care of their minds as well as their bodies. We encourage families to continue these practices at home, whether it’s enjoying a quiet moment with a book, practising yoga together, or spreading kindness in their everyday lives.
