While reading our book ‘Oliver and the Seawigs’ this week, Year 4 discussed how the author used language and description to give us the atmosphere of the sea.
We also learnt how the writing tool of personification (when you make an object or idea do something only a human can do) could enhance our writing. Personification is used particularly in poetry to emphasise meaning and description. It gives the reader a reference to compare to, for example, ‘The wind wrapped itself around my face’.
Read some of our poems and look out for our use of personification!
