As part of our new partnership with Valence House Museum and a New Direction, year 1 children visited the museum on Friday 24th February. The work that the children did will be assessed by Trinity College and the children will receive a Discover Arts Award for their fantastic work.
The children were split up into three groups and participated in activities that ranged from drawing portraits of their partners, creating amazing oil pastel cave drawings, and going through the museum to gather information for their Arts Awards booklets which included looking at three self portraits that were over 300 years old of very powerful people who once owned the areas that we know today as Barking, Dagenham and Ilford! The children showed creativity, communication and gained a lot of knowledge of their local area on the trip.
