This week, Year 4 have learnt how to convert fractions into decimals. They did this using multiplication to make the denominator 10 or 100.
They used their knowledge of this to then play decimal snap! This game involves matching fractions with the correct decimal, calling ‘Decimal snap’ and the player with the most correct pairs wins! Please take a look at the examples below and photos of them playing!
For example,
3/5 = 6/10 = 0.6
(Since 5 is the denominator, I can multiply the whole fraction by 2 to change it into tenths.)
1/4 = 25/100 = 0.25
(Since 4 is the denominator, I can multiply the whole fraction by 25 to change it into hundredths)
