Children in year six have been learning all about WWII in class. During our art sessions we have begun a research project about the stolen art work by the Nazis.
We watched a clip about the Monument Men and learned about a French woman named Rose Valland who was curator of the Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris in 1940. During that time France was occupied by Germany and they turned the museum into their headquarters and looted many of the precious works of art. Valland acted as a spy and recorded all the works that were stolen.
The children were then tasked to carry out their own research. They will be selecting one piece to research and then they will create it in whatever medium they decide.
Check out the pictures of the children beginning their research. Stay tuned for more project news.
