In year 3 we have been exploring the beautiful ‘Largo,’ by Antonin Dvorak. Dvorak wrote a three part solo melody for the cor anglais (or large oboe). He used a ‘hook’ that went with the rhythm of the words ‘far away.’ This makes sense, when you think that he was far away from his home when he wrote the piece.
We have been composing our own melodies using the rhythm of ‘far away’ and the notes C, D, E, F and G (the same notes as Dvorak). Can you hear the ‘far away hook’ in our compositions?
