We have been reading ‘The Rainbow Fish’ in Reception this week. Children created their own version of the rainbow fish using different colours and adding their own details such as bubbles in the water.

Take a look at what some of the children created in the session :

Literacy
We showed interest in the illustrations of the book and the environment.

Expressive Arts and Design
We used our creative skills to explore colours and create simple representations of things.

Understanding the world
We recognised and described some of the things we have observed such as animals, plants and other objects.

Physical Development
We learnt how to show good pencil control and co-ordination as well as knowing how to handle equipment including pencils for drawing and colouring.

Communication and Language
We listened carefully to the story of ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and were able to listen and to respond to ideas expressed by others in a conversation.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Children enjoyed being responsible by carrying out small tasks and chose the different colours independently.
