In our drama lessons, the children have been introduced to characters expressing different emotions whilst following the ‘A Day at the Beach’ theme. The learner’s tolerance has led each session, and sensitivities to the different sensory elements implemented. For example, the environment has had many different multi-sensory elements, contrasting sound, light/dark, and smell stimuli. I.e., for the beach, areas of bright lights and dim caves, sand, water, rock pools, the sound of waves, intermittent sounds of gulls and shouts and slimy sea-weed.
The children have begun to understand how make-believe works, especially as they were involved in preparing the environment. A clear ending has been established and repeated within each session, for example, putting the props back into a box.
The children have really enjoyed drama this term!
