Well, we have to say that this first half term has passed by so quickly! The children have worked extremely hard over the past six to seven weeks and they have come on leaps and bounds in so many areas of their development.
This week, the children were making pizzas in their cooking classes. They went over to the kitchen and prepared their own pizzas independently. They started by being given a pre-made pizza base from an adult. From there they needed to spread the tomato sauce over their pizza base carefully using the flat end of the spoon. Then, then needed to grate the cheese with a grater. The children were really careful during this part of the task to not cut their finger. Once they had finished decorating their pizza, they carefully placed it into the oven to cook. And finally, the most important, part, they got to eat their pizza once it was cooked, which only took a few minutes under the grill.
Other children were taking part in sensory activities by using different coloured paints and shaving foam. They needed to use their hand or fingers to spread and mix the colours into the shaving foam, then use that to make a print on a piece of paper. As you can see, the activity became extremely messy and the children seemed to love mixing all the different textures together.
We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the children this term, and we look forward to coming back and starting all over again; teaching them new skills and having new experiences in class and outside of school.
We hope you all have a restful week and that you enjoy your half term. See you all soon!
