This week, Year 5 had an amazing visit from the ARC Theatre group (a professional educational theatre company which is based in Barking & Dagenham). They work to create more resilient communities, stand up to extremism in all its forms and offer vulnerable individuals a positive
alternative, regardless of race, faith, sexuality, age and gender. We watched their fantastic performance of ‘Outsider’, a play by Clifford Oliver and took part in a great discussion about it. It really engaged the children and helped their critical thinking and cognitive skills; raised an awareness of hate and extremism, promoted shared British Values, made us think about unity in diversity and also strengthened our understanding of technology. Year 5 showed great empathy and understanding.
