The children in Reception have been working within the context ‘All about Me, Myself and Everyone’
To enrich our learning within this context we invited an artist to work with the children and create a self portrait based on the work from Henri Matisse. The image is called ‘The Green Strip’
The children were encouraged to draw their face thinking about all their features and the positioning of these. They then painted their face and added the symbolic green strip down the centre.
The children are really excited to finish their portraits and create a gallery of their work for their parents.
