This week, Year 5 made their very own mountain, earth, forest and ocean blankets! They began by re-reading the description of their chosen blanket from the text ‘The Princess’ Blankets’, then annotating and making a list of essential resources including: various material, metallic paint, cotton wool, sequins, pipe-cleaners and buttons.
After a lot of discussion, and careful selection of resources, the children began the process of creating their blanket. The children showed excellent team work and creativity in their work. Some children also showed skill in leading a group through designating roles within the group to make their group work the most efficiently.
They also showed an excellent knowledge of the text, by making inferences about what the blanket would be like from their knowledge from the text and their own life experiences.
