This week has been an exciting one as we embarked on a fascinating trip to Chatham Historic Dockyard. Our focus during this trip was the science topic of everyday materials, and we were thrilled to explore this subject in such a unique and engaging way.
Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to explore different ships and identify the materials they were constructed from. This hands-on experience allowed us to deepen our understanding of how materials are used in real-life applications.
In the lifeboats section, we were amazed to discover how the materials used to make lifeboats have evolved over the years. We were able to compare and contrast the various materials, gaining insights into why these changes occurred.
One of the highlights of our visit was a tour of a working ropery, where we were able to observe the process of rope-making firsthand. To make the experience even more memorable, we worked together as a class to create our own length of rope, which we proudly brought back to school to use as a skipping rope.
I am delighted to report that everyone behaved impeccably throughout the trip, showcasing the values and excellent manners we foster here at our school. They made our school proud with their enthusiasm, engagement, and exemplary conduct.
We are now looking forward to using what we have learnt about materials to build our own toy boats in class.
