There was some wonderful development of drawing skills this week, with one child saying, “This is the best drawing I have ever done in my whole life!”. They did a great job and listened well to the guidance of considering the shapes of each object drawn depended upon viewpoints. In this instance we knew a can was a cylinder, however you can only see they top as a circle when viewed from above. We looked at the use of sketching shapes before adding guidelines to improve accuracy when it came to finally adding the details.

Year 6 started to generate ideas for their memory boxes, basing their idea generation on assemblage art and the works of Joseph Cornell (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Cornell). They also continued to let their imaginations and personality inform the sculpting, rather than having a set media or outcome.

Year 2 learned the skill of frottage, an art style predominantly considering texture and pioneered by the artist Max Ernst (https://www.modernamuseet.se/stockholm/en/exhibitions/max-ernst/collage-frottage-grattage/)
