This week, reception children had a special visitor (one of the reception child’s mum) who visited all the reception classes to tell them about, ‘Diwali’- the festival of lights celebrated by many, all around the world. All the children got to know how Diwali is celebrated. They now know that Diwali is celebrated with lots of fireworks display, sharing of traditional sweets, all homes brightly lit with diyas and Rangoli patterns welcoming one and all at the entrance of the homes. Children enjoyed listening to the story of Rama and Sita, which explains the tradition about why all the Hindus began to celebrate Diwali Children also read the book, ‘Binny’s Diwali’. The story is about a little girl, ‘Binny’ and her excitement to talk to her class all about her favourite festival, ‘Diwali- Festival of lights’. In the beginning, Binny struggles to express herself but soon she gathers her courage with her teacher’s encouragement and is able to share her experience about Diwali celebrations.
As this is the last day of Autumn 1 Term, Reception Staff wish all the parents and students a very relaxing half term break. It’s been a very busy Term but it’s amazing to see how all our reception year children have settled down in their daily routines, learnt something new every day and have done some amazing activities.
Well Done Reception!
Wishing you all a very relaxing and enjoyable half term break!
