For our writing lessons this week, we have been focussing on the book, ‘Meg and Mog’ and focussing on what happens to the characters in the beginning of the book.
The children have been fully engaged with the book so far and they seem to be really enjoying what they are reading. The pictures are also fully engaging and colourful, gripping them with every page.
Some of the classes have been focussing on the ‘birthday party’ scene, singing happy birthday to the characters in their class, and handing out presents to open. They have also had a sensory table for the children to explore during their choosing time, which helps to encourage them to engage more with the characters and the story.
Other children have been looking at collaging a spaceship with a picture of the character inside. They used small pieces of red tissue paper to stick and cover the outline of the spaceship. This took some time and patience to complete but the children did very well to take their time and cover almost every piece of the space needed to be covered by the pieces of tissue.
One class, are working on a book from Roald Dahl called ‘The Enormous Crocodile’. They have loved reading the book so far and can’t wait to read more about it next week. They made cut-outs of some of the characters they have read about and stuck them to a stick to create a puppet-like piece of work. They really enjoyed taking part in this activity.
