This week in Year Three, we embarked on an exciting journey back in time to explore prehistory. The children have been learning about the Stone Age and its fascinating people, places, and discoveries.

To kick off the week, we created a huge timeline to visualize just how long ago the Stone Age began. It was such an immense amount of time that we had to head outside! Every step we took represented 100,000 years, and we were truly amazed at the distance we covered. This hands-on experience helped the children grasp the vast scale of prehistoric times.

Later in the week, we explored two incredible prehistoric sites: Skara Brae and Stonehenge. We discussed what life might have been like for the people who lived in these settlements thousands of years ago, and how they built these iconic monuments.

For a bit of fun (and challenge!), the children made their own models of Stonehenge using biscuits. Balancing the biscuits to recreate the famous stone structure was tricky work—it gave us all a new appreciation for how difficult it must have been for the people who built the real Stonehenge so long ago.

The children are enjoying this topic immensely and are already looking forward to learning more about our prehistoric ancestors in the coming weeks!
