There are many different types of weather in Britain and the children react to it in much the same ways as adults – they look out of the window and tell us what is happening and whether they think they can play outside today! We should support children to describe the weather we can see and hear and allow them to explore in the ways that they want to.
This week Nursery children really enjoyed playing out in the snow with their families. This is what some children said about their experience:
Ava: “I wore my hat, gloves, scarf and coat. It was cold outside.”
Luka: “The snow is freezing. I made a snowman.”
Andrei: “The snow is cold, it is ice and when it melts it turns into water.”
