This week in Year 5, we have been focusing on our PSHE topic, Healthy Me, with a special focus on First Aid and the recovery position.
As part of our learning, we explored why the recovery position is important and how it can help someone who is unconscious but breathing. We carefully followed step-by-step instructions and practised placing our partners in the recovery position. Through repetition, we built confidence in doing this safely and correctly.
To put our new skills into action, we acted out different first aid scenarios, where we had to decide when to use the recovery position. This helped us understand how to stay calm, assess a situation, and provide basic help until a trusted adult or medical professional arrives.
We are incredibly proud of how sensible and responsible the children were during these sessions. Learning basic First Aid is an important life skill, and we encourage children to share what they have learned with you at home!
