After their refreshing and relaxing week away from school, the children have settled in extremely quickly and really well to school life. They have been working incredibly hard and had some fun filled lessons in between. Here are some of the activities they have taken part in this week:
Some of our classes today had P.E lessons with Mr Francis. They were practising some dance in the hall and playing fun, interactive and exciting games. Everyone took part and Mr Francis was really impressed with how everyone joined in.
Whilst they were in the hall, another class were completing a science lesson, where they were looking at ‘hot and cold’ objects. They were allowed to feel things like; a hot water bottle, with warm water inside; ice cubes and porridge. They then had to show their understanding of hot and cold objects by pointing to the ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ word, or by saying the correct words that link to the temperature of the object. The children were extremely engaged throughout and loved playing with the ice and hot water bottle.
In English, the children are reading the book ‘The Gingerbread Man’. They had a tray with a gingerbread man doll to show the gingerbread man jumping out of the oven and running away from the old woman and the old man. The children were allowed to play with the gingerbread man and the stick puppets to show them running away, and loved holding the dolls and pretending to make the characters run.
One final group of children were using paint to create their own ‘firework’ on a black piece of card. They mixed different colours together and splashed it across the page. Their paintings look very vibrant and energetic.
