This week, we have been focussing a lot of our attention on the afternoon lessons and making them as engaging as possible. We have also had some activities based outside and in different environments for our lessons.
One of our lessons has been based on picking up litter and recycling. We spread out some recycling objects around the school outside and asked the children to look around for the litter. Once found, the children had to place the litter into the bag being held by an adult.
They worked in pairs to help support one another. The children worked cooperatively and were able to find all the litter that had been put out by the staff.
Other children were back to baking and making toast with ingredients spread across the top. Some children just wanted to have butter on their bread, whereas others were more adventurous and wanted butter and jam. They loved placing the bread into the toaster and watching the bread warm up into toast. They did, however, have to be mindful of dangers during this activity. This is an extremely important part of children’s learning and it must be made clear by the adults what they need to be careful of when making things like toast and using toasters.
Take a look at some of the the pictures below to see the rest of the activities the children took part in over the past week.
