At Monteagle we are working hard to help and support all of our families who are eligible for free school meals (FSM)
A national scheme has now been set up in partnership with the Department for Education and Edenred UK to ensure that all children who are entitled to free school meals will receive a voucher to the value of £15.00 a week during term time. The new scheme is in place of the Tesco Cards which you were previously issued with.
How does it work?
You will receive an ‘eCode’ by email (a 16-digit number) with a value of £30, for this weeks payment and payment for the week beginning 20th April.
Once you receive the code you can then go online to redeem the eCode against a choice of eGift cards (a digital gift card delivered via email) which currently includes the following food retailers:
Morrisons
Tesco
Sainsbury’s
Asda
Waitrose
M&S food
There are also offline options available to you if you do not have access to the internet. All parents whose children are eligible for FSM will have received an email or a phone call from the school office today with information about the new scheme.
Please note this scheme does not cover Universal Free School Meals that are given to Reception, Year One and Year Two children.
If you think your child is entitled to FSM but are unsure how to apply please contact our Parent Support Advisor Nicky on 07956 458202. Please also contact Nicky if you are not entitled to free school meals, but are finding it difficult to manage at the moment, as we are actively working with local charities Dagenham Food Bank and Barking Food Bank alongside national charity Fare Share to help families access food parcels. We also continue to work with the Magic Breakfast to provide all children with breakfast supplies whilst they are not at school.
